I need a Colt Python

I've needed this gun for a long time, all efforts to secure one (for a reasonable price) have proven fruitless.
Anyone looking to sell, or trade one, I'm interested in a nice 90% or better.

In my opinion the finest revolver ever made. Nothing matches them for fit and finish. They have the finest blueing I've ever seen on a gun.

I'd imagine you are just going to have to pay the prevailing market price.....$1000 minimum for perhaps a deal on a 90%......up to $2000+ for NIB.

Tons are available over on Gun Broker.

But as has been said, $1k is about 'going price' for a 90%+ Python.

That link is to the version 4 (beta) test software that I've been previewing. It gives Gun Broker kind of an 'Ebay' type look.

If Colt would start making their double-action revolver line again, and sell them to the public, they'd make huge amounts of money. I'm a S&W fanboy and I'd pick up a couple if they were available new (I don't want to pay the current huge premium on the used ones, either). I don't understand why Colt won't do this.

Colt revolver designs require a lot of hand fitting, so I would imagine that the reasons are as follows:

A) The master craftsmen who knew how to do the work have long since retired or passed away.
B) Even if you had a workforce with the necessary experience, craftsmanship isn't cheap, and the market for $2000+ revolvers is probably not very large.
C) Thanks to the EPA, that deep beautiful classic blue is cost prohibitive.
D) Last but not least, the current management at Colt is a bunch of wankers.

.41Dave,
I concur with everything you say, excetp the classic blue. NOT cost prohibitive. If anything it would fall into 'A' - in that to get a great deep blue, they SHOULD be done by hand. Now THAT might be cost prohibitive.

But dang man, a $2000 revolver is but two oz's of gold at today's current price. Not that it's cheap, but it's not that bad.
